Being selected as the wedding photographer for Gaby and Mark’s Pembroke College wedding in Cambridge was a delightful opportunity. Pembroke College, with its hidden charm, vibrant atmosphere, fabulous gardens, and grand architecture, is an exceptional venue for a wedding.
Connection to Pembroke College: Gaby and Mark, both Americans, chose Pembroke College for their wedding, a place close to their hearts as Mark is an alumnus. The exclusivity of Pembroke College as a wedding venue, available only to students, alumni, and staff, makes it an even more special location for a Pembroke College wedding.
Historical Significance: Founded in 1347 by the Countess of Pembroke, the college stands as the earliest in Cambridge to survive on its original site, offering a spectacular setting for Pembroke College weddings. The stunning stained glass and library are just a few of the many exquisite features that make it a dream for any wedding photographer.
Bridal and Groom’s Attire: Gaby, in her ivory gown with a full skirt and lace bodice, looked striking against her red hair, while the bridesmaids’ dresses in bold blue, green, and red added a unique flair. The groom and his party, in blue bow ties (except for Mark’s black one), complemented the vibrant theme of this Pembroke College wedding.
Ceremony and Celebrations: The ceremony unfolded in the wood-panelled chapel of Pembroke College. Post-ceremony, the wedding party emerged into the summer evening sunshine in the Old Court, a perfect setting for champagne and photography. The wedding breakfast in the hall was a blend of elegance and joy, highlighted by a wedding cake that perfectly mirrored Gaby’s dress and bouquet.
